Ada Ameh was a renowned Nigerian actress who spent more than two decades in the Nigerian movie industry and was most notable for her character as Anita in the 1996 movie titled “Domitilla” and as Emu Johnson in the award-winning Nigerian television series titled The Johnsons.
Ameh In The Johnsons television series featured alongside other Nollywood actors such as Charles Inojie, Chinedu Ikedieze & Olumide Oworu.
She died on Sunday 17 July 2022. There had been reports in newspapers that she had been facing mental health challenges.
The renowned Nigerian movie actress, Ada Ameh was born on May 15th 1974 to the family of Mr and Mrs Ameh in Ajegunle, Lagos, Nigeria.
Although Ada was born and bred in Lagos, she is originally a native of Idoma, Benue State, a state in the Southern part of Nigeria.
Not much is known about her education, however, it is said that Ada dropped out of school at the young age of 14. Whether or not she pursued a degree later is totally unknown to the public.
Ada joined the Nigerian movie industry popularly known as Nollywood in 1995.
Zeb Ejiro discovered the talented Nigerian actress. According to her, the famous video director and producer met her and saw a talent that she hadn’t seen in herself. So, when the movie Domitila was to be shot, he said he had someone he wanted to play the role of Anita.
Ada was located and brought to play the role. However, she was an amateur, at she did not find it easy in the beginning. But veterans like Pat Okiri and Basorge taught her how to interpret a script, which is how it all began.
As it is, she rose to fame after featuring in the 1996 movie “Domitilla” which later became a blockbuster. “Domitilla” a film produced and directed by Zeb Ejiro is the movie where she was known as Anita.
Moreover, she is also known for acting as Emu Johnson in the popular Nigerian TV series called The Johnsons.

In 2020, the actress’s fans noticed a drastic change in her weight. She attributes her weight loss to proper diet and exercise.

Ada Ameh is, without a doubt, one of the most well-established actresses in Nigeria. From dropping out of school at 14 because of pregnancy to being one of the best actresses, her story is undoubtedly impressive. She is an inspiration to many people globally.
The actress is not married and is probably single. She has not revealed anything concerning her relationship details to the public, however, she had a child whom she bore at the young age of 14. Sadly, however, she lost her in 2020.
On October 20th, 2020, the actress lost her only daughter. She took to her Instagram page to announce the untimely death to her fans. She wrote, Fams!!! My lovely people. Pray for me. My beautiful darling child chose to go and be with the Lord early hours of today.
Ada Ameh died after collapsing in Warri on 17 July 2022 at the age of 48. She suffered from mental health issues prior to her death.
