Adebola Shabi has led Lagos Assembly Members to the water corporation and made key requests.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Hon. Adebola Shabi, the Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Environment, has led his colleagues on an oversight visit to the Lagos Water Corporation Headquarters in Ijora, Lagos.

In a statement on Thursday, Kehinde Fashola, the water corporation’s spokesperson, said the meeting, which held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, was aimed at ensuring that water runs in every home of Lagos residents.
Hon. Shabi and other lawmakers of the House Committee on Environment were received by the Managing Director of Lagos Water Corporation, Engr. Mukhtaar Tijani, the Executive Director of Operations, Engr. Omolanke Taiwo, and some management staff of LWC.
In his address, the committee chairman expressed concern over the unavailability of water supply in most homes in the state, emphasizing the need for the House to ensure that the interests and rights of their constituents are protected.
He also requested a comprehensive report on ongoing infrastructural projects and the challenges faced by LWC in producing water supply.
On his part, Engr. Tijani assured the committee that he has been working diligently to ensure water supply reaches most homes in the state.
He cited the recent connection of Baruwa Community to Mosan Okunola Waterworks as one of the steps taken to achieve this goal.
Similarly, the LWC Executive Director of Operations thanked lawmakers for their visit and support.
Engr. Taiwo acknowledged the challenges faced by LWC, including the reluctance of customers to pay for water, which is already subsidized by the state government.
She also announced plans to meter all customers to ensure accountability for water produced.
Other Assembly members present included Lanre Afini, Chairman of the House Committee on Environment Ministry; Honourable Simon Apata, Chairman of the House Committee on Procurement; and Honourable Emmanuel Olotu, Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture.
Following the meeting, lawmakers, accompanied by the MD of LWC and some management staff, proceeded to Ishasi Waterworks for project inspection.
