Adeyemi Ikuforiji And His Triumphant Return

For those that have religiously followed Nigeria’s return to democratic rule in 1999 with eyes on Lagos State, in particular, there is a name that will not go away in a hurry – Adeyemi Ikuforiji – the longest-serving speaker in the history of the state.
For someone who began his political career as the general secretary of defunct Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), taking a backseat in the political terrain would have kept many wondering. But like the proverbial ram who took steps back to launch itself with renewed vigour, Adeyemi Ikuforiji returned from his self imposed break triumphantly, a proud recipient of a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree in Leadership at the Liverpool Business School, John Moores University, Liverpool, England.

In addition to that, Ikuforiji was also called to Bar on Wednesday, having passed the one year Law School examination.

A lover of academics, Adeyemi Ikuforiji has a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from Babeș-Bolyai University and Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies respectively and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Lagos.

As a way of recognising his academic feat, friends from different walks of life came together to celebrate the banker, businessman, doctor and barrister.

For those familiar with the former speaker, the achievement is a mirror of the man Adeyemi Ikuforiji is – a perennial achiever – who springs surprises at will. He might have stayed off politics to pursue his academic dreams, but with the degrees in the bag, he might just venture forth to conquer more territories.

For now, we raise the glasses in a toast to Adeyemi Ikuforiji , the trailblazer from Epe.
