The Super Eagles were held to a goalless draw in the first half, and it wasn’t until the 87th minute that Fisayo Dele-Bashiru broke the deadlock to secure the win.
Eguavoen explained that Libya’s defensive tactics stifled Nigeria’s attack, preventing the team from finding the net earlier in the game.
The coach was thankful for the victory, which secured three crucial points for the Super Eagles, boosting their total to seven points and placing them in a strong position in Group D.
He praised his players’ overall performance but reiterated that Libya’s defensive approach limited their scoring opportunities.
“Emotions were high, and when the goal came, it was a huge relief. Actually, we should have scored more goals but the tactics that they deployed was compact as they defended in numbers when the ball was in their area.
“We were a bit slow in the first-half, but the boys picked up in the second half and ball circulation became faster as instructed. The last 25 minutes was better,” Eguaveon said.
