AFCON Round of 16: Dates, Fixtures, Time For all 16 Football Matches
Eko Hot Blog reports that the AFCON 2021 TotalEnergies tournament is taking shape has 16 teams advance while 16 pother teams have been eliminated.
The surprising teams that were eliminated in this tournament were the reigning African Champions Algeria and Ghana two teams tipped to be contenders for the AFCON 2021 trophy.
Teams that also qualified surprisingly from their groups were teams like Gambia, Equitorial Guinea, they showed character and are deserving of a place in the knockout stages of the game.
The host nation Cameroon cruised into the knockout stages with 7 points, Ivory Coast upset the AFCON holders Algeria in their last match scoring 3-1 and dashing their hopes for qualification.
The Super Eagles, were Super in all of their group games winning all group matches and they face Tunisia who finished third in group F.
Mali won against Mauritania to lead group F with 3 points. Senegal and Guinea qualified also. The AFCON tournament have seen upsets as well as dominance from respective African teams and has been a delight to watch this far.

However, the business has become more serious and teams will be working harder than ever to see they advance through the knockout stages. With Algeria goin out of the group stages with just a point, there will be a new champion and the African teams will fancy their chances of winning the tournament.

AFCON debutants Comoros, will be partaking in the AFCON round of 16 fixtures which shows that African football have grown.
Any team can win the tournament, with the way big teams are getting upset by small teams, it is safe to say bigger teams will have to fight for a place at the final.
However there are some teams that have shown they have quality to reach the final such as Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Cameroon, Morocco
