“After Giving Them Water, They Attacked And Raped Us” – Oyo Women Narrate Fresh Ordeal From Herdsmen

As the Herdsmen crisis keep increasing, different Oyo women has come out to narrate their ordeals in the hands of these violence Herdmen

Earlier on Saturday , some female victims in Igangan, Ibarapa Local Government Area of Oyo state, have recalled their experience at the hands of notorious Herdsmen in the state.

According to reports, Herdsmen allegedly attacked and raped some women in Ibarapa Local Government Area of Oyo State.

It was reported that an eighteen-year-old girl, identified as Sola was allegedly raped on her father’s farmland.

Sola, who described her experience said she and her siblings went to the farm to assist their parents.

“At 4:00 pm in the day, a Fulani approached us (my siblings) and begged for water. We were almost done with the day’s work, so we gave him water and he left. Little did we know that hid elsewhere to trail us. I was behind, while my siblings were ahead.”

“And from nowhere, someone used an object to hit me from behind. Before I could open my eyes, the Fulani man had already pounced on me and tore my clothes.”

“My siblings were so scared, so they ran to get help from the village. Before help came, the herdsman had already molested me and fled”, she added.

Speaking on the same issue, a middle-aged woman, identified as Victoria also recounted her ordeal with another Fulani herdsman.

According to Victoria, her case was different because her daughter was equally a victim of the same assault, six months later.

She said, “Around 3pm in the afternoon, I went to the farm to harvest. Later that day, a Fulani man approached me to beg for water and I gave him.

“Minutes later, the Fulani man returned and asked for water again. I became suspicious and told him to leave. But before I could walk away, he used a machete to hit me.”

Victoria stated that some children who were also working with her fled to get help, but the Herder escaped before help could come.

The same incident happened to Abosede, a mother of five children and a resident of Oyo State.

Abosede, who described her daily activity as a Herculean task said she has been scared to go to her farm due to her tragic experience at the hands of killer herdsmen.

She said, “I was attacked by herdsmen while I was working on my cashew farm. That day, I harvested a lot of cashew, so I decided to take a boil a yam to eat.”

“While I was boiling the yam, a Fulani man asked me to give him water. I decided to give him water because they were many of them in the area. I never knew that it was their usual method”, she added.

According to the Spokesman for the Police department in Oyo State, Olugbenga Fadeyi, he said investigations would commence on the alleged rape cases.

Fadeyi also said the alleged rape cases would be transferred to the SCIID in Ibadan for a discreet investigation to apprehend the Fulani herdsmen involved, EKO HOT BLOG gathered.
