EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku on Saturday ordered the state’s security services to immediately implement Operation Stop and Search across the state, particularly in Jalingo, the state capital.
This directive came four days after two explosions were reported in the state.
The most recent blast occurred on Friday in the Nukkai Market district of Jalingo city.
ISWAP, a terrorist organization, has claimed responsibility for the attack that killed at least six people on Tuesday.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Iliya Bekyu Akweh, Governor Ishaku denounced the incident as “ungodly, inhuman, barbaric, and a premeditated attempt by bad elements to destabilize the state.”
“He directed the state’s security agencies to cooperate together through proper inquiry to find the terrorists who, he claimed, are working nonstop to disrupt the state’s calm.”
“The Governor further asked security agencies to immediately implement operation stop and search across the state, particularly in the State Capital, to deter terrorists and their collaborators who have lately infiltrated the state.”
Capital to put a stop to the wicked actions of terrorists and their henchmen who have recently infiltrated the state.
“It is disheartening, according to the Governor, for innocent citizens’ lives and property to be destroyed without any provocation by criminals who have no regard for the sanctity of human lives, and assured that no stone will be left unturned to unravel the mystery surrounding their heinous and dastardly act”.
“However, the Governor asked residents of the state to remain watchful and report any suspicious persons in their midst to Security Agents for immediate action in order to prevent a repeat of the heinous occurrence,”he said.
Ishaku urged Taraba State residents to avoid public venues such as recreational centers and other populated areas, which may be used as soft targets by terrorists, stressing that the state needs peace to prosper, not bombers to destabilize it.
“He also expressed displeasure with recent events in the state, saying that his administration would not allow evil people and their sponsors, including those who harbor them, to undermine the peace he had worked so hard to restore.
“The Governor has asked the Ministry of Urban Planning and Environment to guarantee that hawkers and dealers who have set up micro markets in unauthorised locations in the state capital immediately vacate those areas or face legal action.”
Ishaku also assured the people of the state that his administration was ready to cleanse the state of criminals and asked them to carry out their legal responsibilities, emphasizing that the government was on top of things.
