Airport Official Demanded Bribe From Me Before I Could Use My Helicopter, Says Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Saturday, April 10, gave details of how an airport official demanded bribe from him before he could travel by helicopter for a journey to Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Pastor Adeboye, who came late to a special meeting with all ordained ministers of the church in Region 21, Oyo State, on Saturday, said he came late because the said airport official, who he did not name, wanted to collect bribe from him before he could use the country’s airspace for the journey to Ibadan in his helicopter.

“The meeting, which I attended, was expected to start at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. We were however not allowed to bring in any gadgets or to take photographs at the meeting which officials of the church described as solemn.” Adeboye revealed.

Adeboye, who arrived the RCCG Region 21 Headquarters, Oluyole Estate, at about 1:25 p.m, said he arrived late for the meeting because an airport official had requested a bribe from him to fly his helicopter to Ibadan and because he refused, the approval was delayed for about three hours.

According to Adeboye, who spoke while delivering his speech to the over 6,500 ministers at the event:

“I don’t give excuses because I have discovered long ago that only failures give excuses. But you must pray for Nigeria.

“Something must be done about corruption in this nation. All I can say is that I’m this late because an airport official wanted a bribe. And you know if you’re expecting a bribe from me, you have to wait forever.

“But the devil has failed. And the devil will continue to fail. Fortunately for me, I decided to leave for Ibadan by 9:00 a.m. I also decided to come by helicopter so that there won’t be a traffic jam that would tie me down on the expressway.

“Then, I ran into something else. But by the grace of God, we’re here,” he said.

Pastor Adeboye added that it took some intervention from the Presidency which ordered express approval for his helicopter to travel to Ibadan before the said airport official could allow the cleric to travel after about three hours delay,  EKO HOT BLOG gathered.
