Airtel is the second mobile operator in Nigeria to launch 5G. MTN Nigeria launched its 5G network in December 2022.
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) awarded 5G licenses to Airtel and MTN in December 2021. The NCC plans to auction additional 5G licenses in the future.
Airtel is offering 5G services at a discounted price of N10,000 per month. The company is also offering free 5G routers to customers who sign up for a 12-month plan.
The launch of 5G in Nigeria is a major milestone for the country’s telecommunications industry. It is a sign that Nigeria is committed to building a digital economy.
Here are some of the benefits of 5G:
Faster speeds: 5G can deliver speeds up to 100 times faster than 4G. This means that users can download files, stream videos, and play games much faster.
Lower latency: 5G has lower latency, which means that there is less delay between when a user requests a service and when the service is delivered. This is important for applications such as self-driving cars and virtual reality.
