Eko Hot Blog reports that Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has eulogized former governor Rotimi Akeredolu, saying he will be remembered for strengthening the judicial system.
Speaking at a special court session on Wednesday, Aiyedatiwa, who took office after Akeredolu’s death in December 2023, said his predecessor did well using the rule of law to fight crime.
“We remember with pride today his (Akeredolu) sense of urgency and intervention and unusual dedication to the cause of access to justice,” Aiyedatiwa said.
He noted Akeredolu’s support for the Multidoor Court System, Alternate Dispute Resolution, and welfare for judges and officers.
Aiyedatiwa also highlighted laws sponsored under Akeredolu, including establishing the state security network Amotekun, the state auditor-general’s office, an agency against violence against women, and regulating livestock grazing.
“His drive for necessary and expeditious law-making” will be remembered, Aiyedatiwa said. He added that Akeredolu’s efforts in “strengthening the judicial system in the state” will be part of his legacy.
