Akwa Ibom Unveils Tourism Plans, Declares Emergency in Power Sector
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has declared a state of emergency in the power sector to improve electricity supply across the state.
This decision aligns with his all-inclusive economic plan, the ARISE Agenda, which aims to boost development in various sectors.

Speaking during the second day of the Executive Council Ministerial Briefing and End-of-Year Review at the Government House in Uyo, Governor Eno emphasized the importance of reliable electricity.
He noted that consistent power is essential for key projects such as the state’s aviation hub, seaport, and medical corridor.
To address the power challenges, the governor announced plans for a power summit to assess the current situation and outline strategies for achieving steady electricity.
He also revealed the formation of a Power Infrastructure Committee to oversee developments in the sector. Governor Eno’s vision includes providing a 24-hour power supply to drive economic growth.
He praised the Commissioner for Power, Camillus Umoh, for improvements at Ibom Power Company and expressed confidence in the state’s ability to achieve its energy goals.
In the area of tourism, the governor shared plans to organize a tourism summit. This event will serve as a platform to create a detailed roadmap for developing the state’s tourism sector, based on a presentation by the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Charles Udoh.
