Alara 1st Enthronement Anniversary: Sanwo-Olu Lauds Developmental Strides In Ilara

On Sunday, August 22, 2021, all roads led to the magnificent edifice of Alara of Ilara Kingdom for the grand finale of the week-long festivities to mark the one year coronation anniversary of Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo as Telade IV, Ilara, Epe.

The event, which climaxed a medley of activities to mark the one year anniversary of Alara’s coronation was graced by prominent personalities from all works of life drawn across the length and breadth of Lagos State and beyond.

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, commended the leadership of His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr Olukayode Olufolarin Ogunsanwo for his enviable developmental strides since the ascension to the throne of his forefathers.

He pleaded with the Royal fathers to assist the Government by contributing their quota towards holistic approach to governance.

“On behalf of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, it is my pleasure to deliver his heartwarming greetings to the Alara of Ilara Kingdom, Oba Dr Olukayode Olufolarin Ogunsanwo Royal fathers and eminent personalities present who are here today to celebrate and felicitate his Royal Majesty’s 1st coronation anniversary. I’m particularly glad that King Sunny Ade is present and may his prayers come to pass.”

“We can observe the emergence of development strides in Ilara, we must applaud kabiyesi for those efforts.”

“As you can testify, our government is listening and there’s no such thing as a community other than our Royal fathers. We cherish and rever our traditional leaders and that is the more reason why we have invited them all to a retreat on Wednesday with the sole purpose of keeping us abreast with first-hand information on security. I am elated that every time, Kabiesi Alara informs the government on several ideas on education, road infrastructure and security. On my way here, I saw the school in which he discussed with me, I will visit the school on my way out of here,” he stated.

The glamorous event attracted prominent Nigerians such as Traditional Rulers, Politicians, Officials of Government, Captains of Industries, Lawmakers, and Business Moguls. Notable personalities at the event include  Ogun State Governor, Mr Dapo Abiodun, represented by his deputy, Engr Mrs Noimot Oyedele, Lady Doja Otedola, former Lagos First Lady, HRM Oba Francis Alao, the Olugbon of Ile-Igbon representing Ooni of Ife, HRM Oba AbdulRasheed Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, the Akarigbo of Remo, HRM Prince Kayode Afolabi, the Alapomu of Apomu, HRM Oba Kabiru Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu.

Others are Chief Dele Momodu, Ovation Magazine Publisher, CP Hakeem Odumosu, Lagos Commissioner of Police, Mrs Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, Lagos State Commissioner for Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Chief Adebola Dosunmu, the Akinsiku of Lagos Dr Toyin Kolade, Iyalaje Oodua, Chief SO Bakare, MD Oluwalogbon Motors, Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya, Bode Best, Chief Tomori Williams.

Engineer Noimot Oyedele, the Ogun State Deputy Governor, in her short address delivered warm regards from  Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

The Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, described the presence of the Lagos State Governor represented by his Deputy, Dr Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, as a sign of the mutual understanding and relationship that exists between the Government and the traditional institution. He disclosed that the Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, extended his warm greetings to Alara and the entire gathering.

Akarigbo of Remo Land, Ogun State, HRM Oba Kayode Afolabi, in his goodwill message described the presence of eminent individuals at the gathering as indicative of the social capital and political clout wielded by Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, whom he described as thoroughbred 21st Monarch.

Oba Kayode also expressed optimism that with Oba Ogunsanwo at the helm of affairs, Ilara will continue to experience a barrage of unprecedented developmental strides.

Oba Dr Olukayode Olufolarin Ogunsanwo in his address appreciated guests who created time from their busy schedules to celebrate him on the momentous occasion.

Alara also noted that the developmental strides recorded in Ilara and Epe Division could not have been possible without the friendship and support of his confederates and associates who have played variegated roles to help bring his vision for the community to fruition.

Thrilling ecstatic and elated guests was the legendary King Sunny Ade who rolled back the years with yet another supreme performance.

Earlier, a Thanksgiving service was held in the morning to round up the 7-day event which kicked off with the Aje Festival on Monday 16th August.
