Eko Hot Blog reports that distinguished figures from Epe, including the esteemed Alara of Ilara, Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo; former Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode; the federal representative from Epe, Wale Raji; Olatunde Oladunjoye; Tunde Thanni, and Fariu Arebi, led a powerful delegation to the wedding ceremony of the Awe’s and Lawal’s in Lagos.

The prominent Lagos families, Awe and Lawal, wedded their children, Lanre and Olayemi, respectively last Saturday, December 30, 2023, at a Nikkah ceremony at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos State.

The event, which came about a week after the couple’s traditional wedding ceremony, brought together various influential people from all parts of the world, including Epe, Lagos State.

Reacting to Lanre and Olayemi’s union, HRM Oba Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara Kingdom, wished the newlyweds well.

The monarch, who expressed elation at witnessing the union, emphasized the importance of commitment, patience, understanding, respect, and submission in making a marriage last a lifetime.

“I’m elated to witness this young couple come together to make commitments to spend live together till they grow old. Marriage is one institution that one gets certificate before venturing into it. It takes patience, understanding, respect and submission to keep make marriage last a lifetime,” he said.

With his intimate knowledge of the two families, he conveyed confidence in Olayemi and Lanre, stating that, “I know they are children brought up properly, and with God’s grace and guidance, they will live beyond our expectations.”

As a royal father, Oba Ogunsanwo blessed their marriage, envisioning their ability to conquer challenges and be blessed with honorable children who will honor their parents.

On his part, Ambode expressed his happiness at being part of the union, celebrating with the Awe family.

Sharing valuable insights on marriage, the former Lagos governor emphasized the normalcy of occasional disagreements, urging the couple to uphold timely conflict resolution and effective communication.

He highlighted the importance of avoiding ego and learning to apologize.

“I’m very happy to be here today to celebrate with my brother, Oladipo Awe, as his son gets married to his soulmate. The Awe’s family is one I have known for long. They are a wonderful family and I’m sure Olayemi will find solace in Olanrewaju,” Ambode stated.

“Having disagreement once a while is a norm in marriage, not letting the sun died down on one’s anger should be upheld to have a lasting marriage. Communication in marriage is very essential.

“It is better to communicate your feelings rather than bottling it up. Learning to apologize to one another is another advice I would like to give to the couple. Having ego will solve nothing, rather it will escalate issues.”

The former governor said a heartfelt prayer for the couple to live long, grow old together, and navigate the hurdles of marriage with grace.

“I pray that the couple live long and grow old together. It’s a new experience for them, God will give them grace to scale through the hurdles marriage brings. I wish them a happy married life,” he added.

Similarly, Hon. Raji extended his congratulations to the couple, advising them on ways to remain together forever and wishing them well in their marriage.

“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the newlyweds. May this journey be filled with love, understanding, and joy. Remember that as you navigate the complexities of marriage, patience and communication will be your greatest allies.

Likewise, Mr. Tunde Thanni, a key personality at the Nikkah ceremony of Olayemi and Lanre, offered profound insights and heartfelt wishes.

“I feel great to be here, as you can see, everyone is feeling great because we have our children been joined together in holy matrimony. Particularly, the groom that happens to be my son, so I feel very great,” he said.

As a seasoned chairman of weddings, Mr. Thanni provided unconventional advice to the newlyweds, emphasizing the importance of seeking a third party in resolving conflicts to avoid bottling up emotions that cause a lot of problems in future.

In a warm and humorous touch, Mr. Thanni, a father of twins, extended his wishes for the couple, saying, “I wish them twins, and they will decide the rest. Happy married life. Bliss all through.”

Otunba Teni Zaccheaus, also present at the celebration, conveyed his honour to be a part of the joyous occasion, stating, “I’m honored to be here. I have come to honor my Epe brother, Ladi Awe. It’s Ladi’s son’s wedding, and I’m glad to be here for the wedding.”

On his part, Otunba Zaccheaus expressly congratulated the couple, showering prayers on them.

Lastly, Hon. Arebi added his voice to the celebration, urging the newlyweds to be each other’s cover and continue their journey in love without looking back. He wished them the best in their marital adventure.
