Alausa Applauds Professor Oladapo Ashiru’s Re-election as IFFS Secretary-General

Dr. Tunji Alausa, Nigeria’s Minister of Education, has expressed his congratulations to Professor Oladapo Ashiru on his re-election as the first Black Secretary-General of the International Federation of Fertility Societies (IFFS).
Eko Hot Blog reports that Ashiru is a renowned Professor of Anatomy and Consultant Reproductive Endocrinologist, was re-elected for a second term during the 2025 World Fertility Congress in Tokyo, Japan.

This accomplishment emphasizes Ashiru’s leadership and commitment to advancing global reproductive medicine, as he will continue to serve in his role for another three years.
In a letter dated May 2 and obtained by the Nigerian Tribune, the Minister of Education personally commended Ashiru for his dedication and contributions to the field of fertility.
The letter reads in part: “On behalf of myself and the Federal Ministry of Education, I extend warm congratulations and profound commendation on your re-election as the first Black Secretary General of IFFS.
“The historic achievement, being the first black person to hold this office in the 57-year history of the organisation is a moment of immense pride, not only for Nigeria but for the entire African continent.
“Your re-election is not only a testament to your exemplary leadership and your distinguished career in reproductive endocrinology, but also your deep commitment to advancing scientific excellence and global cooperation in reproductive health.
“Additionally, through your work, you have upheld the highest standards of scholarship and professionalism, bringing international recognition to Nigeria’s scientific community.
“The Federal Ministry of Education specially acknowledges your lifelong dedication to learning, research and mentorship.
“Your contributions continue to inspire a generation of scholars and practitioners in the field of medical sciences, your global status affirms the power of education and perseverance
“So, we thank you for your continued efforts in uplifting the scientific reputation of Nigeria and for your enduring contributions to knowledge and humanity, even as I particularly wish you more accomplishments in your service to the world.”
