Alayandelu Of Odo-Ayandelu Becomes First Monarch To Bag Nigerian Institute of Building Fellowship
His royal majesty, Oba Bldr. Abdul Ganiyu Aderibigbe Asunmo (FNIOB), Alayandelu of Odo-Ayandelu in Ikosi-Ejinrin has become a FELLOW in the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB).
Alayandelu is also the first monarch to achieve such feat.
The monarch who’s also the Board of trustees member of Epe Division Education Resuscitation Coalition (EDERC), is widely revered for his unflinching commitment to the repositioning of the education sector for the greater good.
His unwavering love and quest for Education and Community Development is unrivaled.
Aside from his monarchical obligations, he’s also known for his tremendous and insightful contributions to issues that are salient to growth of his domain and people.
His Royal Majesty Oba (Bldr) Asunmo Ganiyu Aderibigbe Balogun, Jamade 1, the Paramount Ruler of Odo–Ayandelu. He was born on the 17th of July, 1962 to Prince Asunmobiu Omolaja Balogun — the late Chief Imam of Odo–Ayandelu who happened to be the first cleric to visit mecca and also member of the Jamade Ruling House — and Princess Latifatu Balogun – nee Oyefolu, from the Olufoworesete Ruling House of Imota, Lagos State.
His father was a bicycle repairer and Muslim Cleric, His mother was a petty trader and a farmer. but despite his humble background beginning, he was able to navigate the maze of adversity to become a prominent and respected personality.
Between 1983 and 1986, he was at Ijebu-Ode Technical College to study Block Laying and Concreting. His first working Experience was at the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) where he served in the public works department.
He then secured employment at the National Electric Power Authority (NEPA), now Power Holding Company of Nigeria ( PHCN) as a masonry officer ( IV ). Knowing fully well the importance of further education, he enrolled for a part-time programme in building Technology at the Yaba College of Technology in 1989 and obtained the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in 1997. As a student, he was the Chief Whip of Building Students Ruling Council. As a staff of NEPA, he served as a union leader and headed several positions which included the Public Relation Officer between 1990 and 1992 and General Secretary for six years, 1993-1999.
Oba Aderibigbe Asunmo rose to the post of Assistant Manager, Building, in-charge of maintenance of PHCN quarters and offices nationwide, under Senator Liyel Imoke, Late Chief Bola Ige, Barrister Ogbaga and Chief Segun Agagu all former Ministers of Power in Nigeria.
