EKO HOT BLOG reports that Manchester United youngster Alejandro Garnacho has expressed his desire to wear the club’s iconic No. 7 shirt, previously worn by Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Argentine forward hinted at his interest in the shirt by liking a tweet from a fan that read, “Give Garnacho the 7 shirt.”

EDITOR’S PICK

Ronaldo, who left Manchester United in November 2022 after a fallout with manager Erik ten Hag, was the last player to wear the No. 7 jersey at Old Trafford. Since his departure, the shirt has remained unassigned, and Garnacho appears keen to take it on.

The 18-year-old made his debut for the Red Devils in their 1-1 Premier League draw against Chelsea in April 2022 under Ralf Rangnick. He has since gone on to score four goals in 29 appearances across competitions for the former Premier League champions.

Garnacho’s impressive performances have earned him a new deal with the club, which was announced last week. With the Argentine forward showing interest in the No. 7 shirt, it remains to be seen if manager Erik ten Hag will grant his request.

The No. 7 shirt at Manchester United is a symbol of prestige, having been worn by club legends such as George Best, Eric Cantona, David Beckham, and Ronaldo. If Garnacho is granted the shirt, he will carry the weight of expectation that comes with wearing such an iconic jersey.

Manchester United fans will be eager to see who takes on the No. 7 shirt, and whether Garnacho will be the one to fill the void left by Ronaldo.
