A proud descendant of the Dosunmu Onikoyi Royal Family, Alhaji Mayegun traces his lineage to the revered Iya Oni Garri, marking his identity as a third-generation descendant of the esteemed First Chief Dosunmu Onikoyi.
Born in the mid-60s, he has deep roots in Lagos, where he completed both his primary and secondary education.
Educationally, Alhaji Mayegun holds first and second degrees from Ogun State University and Lagos State University, respectively.
His commitment to professional development is evident through his membership in esteemed bodies such as the Nigerian Institute of Management, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, and his accreditation as a registered counselor and teacher by the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
The retired Deputy Director of Education with the Lagos State Government, Alhaji Mayegun’s illustrious career spans across the three tiers of government – local, state, and federal.
Notably, he served as the Executive Secretary of the Lagos Island Local Government Education Authority for a decade. His impactful roles also include serving as a Senior Legislative Aide at the National Assembly and as a Liaison Officer of the defunct Nigerian Student’s Loans Board.
In the political arena, Alhaji Mayegun has carved a niche for himself, traversing various levels from ward to local and state. Currently holding the position of Deputy State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, he is recognized as a good team player, articulate communicator, and a goal-driven individual.
