EKO HOT BLOG reports that Nigerian businessman, Olakunle Churchill, has responded to criticism from Nigerians over his decision to add the title “King” to the name of his second son, King Churchill Jr.
Churchill, who was previously married to actress Tonto Dikeh, has been accused of adding the title to spite his ex-wife.
In a recent Instagram post, Churchill shared a photo of his son, King Churchill Jr., which sparked a heated exchange in the comment section. Some Nigerians attacked Churchill, accusing him of being insensitive to his ex-wife, Tonto Dikeh and using his children as pawns in their feud.
This largely came from a previous comment by the Nollywood actress alleging Olakunle Churchill deliberately named his son with Rose Meurer ‘King’ to spite her.
However, Churchill defended his decision, stating that he intended to name all of his male children the title “King.”
Churchill’s first son with Tonto Dikeh is named King Andre, and many Nigerians believe that he named his second son “King” as a way to mock and taunt his ex-wife. However, Churchill denied these claims, insisting that he had the right to choose the names of his children and that he was not motivated by any negative intentions.
“I have the right to name my child whatever I want, and I’ve decided to give all my male children the title of King,” Churchill said in response to the criticism. “It has nothing to do with anyone else. I am simply choosing the names that I believe are fitting for my children.”
Despite Churchill’s explanation, many Nigerians remain unconvinced and continue to criticize him for his decision.
The controversy has once again brought to light the issue of celebrities using their children as pawns in their public feuds, with many people calling for more sensitivity and empathy when it comes to the well-being of the children involved.
