EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, has revealed that over two million Almajiri children have been taken off the streets and enrolled in educational institutions.
Additionally, they have been included in Arabic literacy programs aimed at providing them with fundamental education and vocational skills.

This announcement was made during the inaugural quarterly citizens and stakeholders’ engagement session focusing on the ministerial deliverables within Nigeria’s education sector, held in Abuja on Tuesday.
He noted that the reduction of out-of-school children in Nigeria was one of the major focuses of the current administration, assuring that before the end of the year, many more out-of-school children would be brought back to acquire learning and skills.

The minister also revealed that in the last six months, 70,674 teachers and non-teaching staff from across all levels of academic and non-academic training institutes were trained; 2,122 students awarded Nigerian scholarship awards; and 2,889 students studying abroad benefitting from bursary awards amongst other scholarships.
