Eko Hot Blog reports that the Molusi College Old Students Association (MOCOSA) has organized a fundraising and gala night ceremony to commemorate the 75th Founder’s Day Anniversary of Molusi College, Ogun State.
The event, spanning about a week, began on Friday, January 19, 2024, with distinguished personalities, and alumni in attendance.
The gala, expertly hosted by renowned comedian Koffi Idowu, who is an alumnus of Molusi College, began with the introduction of notable members of the Alma mater.
Chief Mrs Omotunde Lawson, Otunba Bayo Ogunaike, the first president of MOCOSA, Global Chairman Wole Kukoyi, Pioneer Global Chairman Femi Talabi, and Chief Launcher Alhaji Laide Fowosere were among the distinguished figures present.
The ceremony also witnessed the recitation of the national anthem and school anthem, demonstrating pride and allegiance to both the country and institution.
A solemn moment followed as attendees observed a minute of silence in remembrance of departed colleagues.
Kukoyi, in his welcome address, expressed gratitude for the collective grace that allowed everyone to witness the epoch-making occasion.
He emphasized the remarkable journey of Molusi College over 75 years, highlighting its role in shaping the lives of individuals who have contributed significantly to communities, the nation, and the international arena.
“We are here today to celebrate the visionaries who initiated the idea of building a school that molds young minds, destined to contribute to national development,” Kukoyi affirmed, encapsulating the essence of the celebration.
The event witnessed the heartfelt speech of Otunba Bayo Ogunaike, the first-ever president of MOCOSA, who reflected on the changing landscape of education.
He emphasized the critical role of alumni in sustaining schools amidst reduced government participation, expressing gratitude for MOCOSA’s thriving efforts in supporting Molusi College.
Ogunaike urged a collective effort to pay homage to the founders, recognizing the transformative impact Molusi College had on individual lives.
Stressing the significance of giving back, he encouraged alumni to contribute to the fundraising initiatives aimed at enhancing the school’s facilities and projects.
The current secondary school principal, Mr. Mufu Gafaru, acknowledged the old students for their continuous support, expressing gratitude for their contributions to the school’s success in external examinations.
As part of the evening’s festivities, raffle draws added an exciting element, offering participants the chance to win prizes ranging from N50,000 to N150,000.
Mrs Lawson, in her address, took a moment to applaud Molusi College’s commitment to excellence over the years.
She emphasized the importance of acknowledging the sacrifices of individuals in the school’s establishment, challenging the prevailing trend of governments taking credit for the efforts of others in the educational sector.
Her lecture on ‘Developing Future Generations of Nation Builders as Corporate Social Responsibility on their Alumni’ resonated deeply, aligning with MOCOSA’s dedication to contributing meaningfully to the school’s progress.
In recognition of her impactful address, Mrs Lawson was presented with a merit award.
The evening was filled with melodies as attendees reveled in sonorous music, sharing laughter and reliving cherished memories with old classmates.
The fundraising segment took centre stage, with Alhaji Laide Fowosere pledging a block to the school. Additionally, his set committed to contributing N10 million to the targeted N75 million fundraising goal.
Other generous pledges further underscored the commitment of MOCOSA to supporting Molusi College’s future initiatives.
