Amaka Sunnberger: Police Arrest Nigerian Woman for Threatening Yoruba, Benin Descendants

Police operatives in Toronto have arrested a Nigerian woman, Amaka Sunnberger, following a viral video in which she threatened to kill Nigerians of Yoruba and Benin descent.

The arrest took place on Sunday, September 1, with authorities confirming that she will be charged in court on Monday.

In a statement, the police revealed that Sunnberger has been charged with “Uttering Threats” and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Monday, September 2, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in courtroom 107.

The statement also noted that the investigation is being treated as a suspected hate-motivated offense.

The viral video sparked widespread outrage in Nigeria, prompting the Nigerian House of Representatives to demand her prosecution.
