Ambode Pays First Visit to Lagos State House Since 2019
Former Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode paid a courtesy visit to his successor and the current Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, EKO HOT BLOG reports.
This marked Ambode’s first visit to the Lagos State House since completing his tenure as a one-term governor in 2019.
In an Instagram post on Monday, Sanwo-Olu shared details of the visit, stating that their discussion focused on the future of Lagos and the ongoing efforts to build on the existing strong foundation.

Accompanying photos of the visit, Sanwo-Olu wrote, “Today, I welcomed my brother and predecessor, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, back to Lagos House on a courtesy visit.
Our conversation centered around the future of Lagos and building on the solid foundation already in place. I value his perspective as we all work together to ensure that Lagos remains on the path of growth and development.”
In a separate development, Sanwo-Olu condemned a post made by the account @Lagospedia on X (formerly Twitter), which called for the expulsion of the Igbo from Lagos and the southwest.
The controversial post, dated July 27, 2024, urged Lagosians to prepare for a massive #IgboMustGo protest from August 20 to 30, 2024, sparking significant backlash on social media.
Gboyega Akosile, the media aide to Governor Sanwo-Olu, issued a statement emphasizing that the governor and the Lagos State Government strongly distance themselves from the “reckless, divisive, and dangerous rhetoric.”
Akosile further stated that Lagos remains home to every Nigerian citizen, regardless of ethnic nationality, and that Sanwo-Olu views the post as a deliberate attempt to create discord between the Yoruba in the South-West and other ethnic groups, particularly those who have made Lagos their permanent home.
