Ambode Takes Action To Fix Epe Power Problem, Calls For Better Security

Ekohotblog reports that Former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has stepped in to help solve the ongoing power problem in Epe, which has lasted for over four months now.

The blackout began in July after a fire damaged the Epe Injection Station.

Many residents and businesses have been without electricity since then.

After hearing many complaints from residents, Ambode held a meeting with the Chairman and Managing Director of Ikeja Electric (IKEDC) to find a solution.

At the meeting, IKEDC officials explained that their efforts to restore power have been slowed down by repeated vandalism at the Ibi Alafia feeder station, which supplies power to Epe.

The feeder station has been vandalized five times in the last four months, and even twice in October alone.

Ambode expressed his concern about the situation and said, “It’s very upsetting that even after making progress, vandals keep damaging the power facilities.

This is hurting the people of Epe and their businesses.”

IKEDC officials made it clear that they cannot continue repair work until there is proper security at the feeder station.

“We’ve fixed the feeder multiple times, but it keeps getting attacked. We need to secure the area before we can restore power,” an IKEDC representative explained.

Ambode called on community leaders and security agencies to help protect the power facilities.

“We need everyone to step up and make sure these places are safe. Without proper security at Ibi Alafia, we can’t bring electricity back,” he said.

Ambode assured the people of Epe that he is committed to finding a permanent solution and also begged them to be patience as steps are taken to protect the power infrastructure.
