Hotel Management Reacts to Death of Two Workers in Poka, Epe

Days after the conclusion of Presidential and national election in 2015, tragedy struck in Epe, an incident that somewhat overshadowed the joyous atmosphere that characterised the outcome of the election occurred, six persons who were on their way back from an electoral duty in Epe met their death when the boat they are being conveyed in capsized.

The victims — Adewale Olakunle, Mogaji Gbolahan, Bello Muiz, Salau Tunde, Agoro Shamuseen and Mogaji Wale. It was a devastating experience family of the victim.

In other to Immortalised these heroes who died in line of duty while serving their father’s land, a foundation was, with the help of the state government, set up by prominent and illustrious sons and daughters of Epe. The foundation was christened AMBSAM.

The foundation, which got its acronym from the first letters of the victims’ names, has, as part of its long term project, a memorial park with a swimming pool which would be accessible to members of the community and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training centre.

The project enjoyed widespread support in its early days as men and women of benevolence graciously contributed to the cause.

But in recent years the project has suffered serious setback.

However, the desire to see the beautiful memories of these heroes preserved and entrenched in the consciousness of the people has been revived as the Coordinator of the foundation, Otunba Tajudeen Abass, announced the return of workers to the construction site.

The focal point of the foundation being Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Centre (CPR) centre, Abass called on government and well meaning Nigerians to support the course of building the first Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Centre (CPR) in Epe to cater for people who drown in river or has heart attack.

The EkoHotBlog publisher made the call on the occasion of his birthday on August 23rd while inspecting the progress of work at the site.

Abass said that when completed, the centre will be an avenue to save lives and train people on how to do same.

“When one has heart attack there are certain measures that needs to be taken before professional help arrives, that is what CPR does; it pumps life back to you until you become stable and help arrives”

He contended that the revival of the project would not have come at any other time better now as his birthday celebration coincided with a period in history of mankind when the spirit of altruism and selflessness are most required to make the world a better place.

He also underscored the importance of selflessness in nation building which was displayed by the six heroes, noting that the certainty of any country to reach the level of development it’s desirous of is wholly hinged on the contribution of its citizens to its growth.

He also lauded the effort of the members whose contributions, he said, has been vital to the survival of the foundation.
