Tay-K, famous for his 2017 hit song “The Race,” could now face life in prison with the possibility of parole.
Before this, Tay-K was already serving a 55-year sentence for another murder. In that case, he was involved in the shooting death of Ethan Walker during a home robbery in 2016.
In the latest case, prosecutors said Tay-K shot Saldivar while trying to rob him. Reports say Tay-K had asked Saldivar, a photographer, to take some pictures for a new song. He then picked him up in a car, where the shooting happened.
Tay-K’s lawyers argued that the police didn’t properly investigate the case and relied too much on statements from people in the car. His lawyer told the jury, “Taymor McIntyre is not guilty of murder, and this case shows the police didn’t do their job well.”
The jury didn’t find him guilty of capital murder, which would have meant life in prison without parole. Instead, they found him guilty of a lesser charge, and now the court will decide how long he will stay in prison.
