Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly demonstrated their unwavering support for Speaker Mojisola Meranda on Monday, as they unanimously passed a vote of confidence in her ability to lead the House.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the show of solidarity is sequel to the wake of a security operation by the Department of State Security (DSS) and Nigeria Police Force (NPF), which had earlier sealed the offices of the Speaker, her Deputy, and the House Clerk.
The motion for the vote of confidence was moved by Oladipo Ajomale, a lawmaker representing Oshodi/Isolo II constituency.
He emphasized that Meranda had been democratically elected by the lawmakers and that they believed she was the right leader for the House at this critical juncture.
The motion was seconded by Aro Moshood, with all 34 remaining lawmakers ultimately voting in favor of the confidence motion.
The House however adjourned sitting till further notice.
