The Corps Commander, Ekiti State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, Brig. Gen Joe Komolafe (retd.), said on Monday that the security outfit had arrested a suspected kidnapper, who was dressed in military uniform.
Komolafe said the 23-year-old suspect was arrested at Ifaki Ekiti in the Ido/Osi Local Government Area of the state during a routine patrol of the security outfit.
The corps commander, in a chat with journalists in Ado Ekiti, said, “He was dressed in military uniform and coming out from the bush. Initially, he identified himself as Adebayo Damola and later, he gave his name as Emmanuel Tunde. You can see the inconsistency. He is never a military man but a suspected kidnapper.
“Upon interrogation, he claimed to be from Kogi State and a vulcanizer residing in Oye Ekiti. When asked about his mission in Ifaki, he said he was coming from Ado Ekiti where he went to attend the Man ‘O War interview.
“Our further investigation showed that he resides in Ifaki Ekiti and when he took us to his room, we found military items. He also claimed that a military officer in Lagos State gave him the military uniform.”
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Sunday Abutu, confirmed the arrest.
