Agents of the Amotekun Corps, a division of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, have seized no less than 80 motorcycles.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the due to violations of the laws forbidding the use of okada in the state between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., the motorcycles were seized.

EDITOR’S PICK

The State Government had ordered that the ban on motorcycle operations outside of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. and the enforcement of the ban on nightclub activities after 2:00 a.m.

According to Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, state commander of the Amotekun Corps, the directive was a move to purge the state of criminally inclined individuals and organisations.

The Amotekun Commander confirmed the arrest and claimed that his men had been put in a good position to make the arrest of the violators.

According to him, only law enforcement officers or those performing important services are permitted to move at that period because they are required to have valid identity cards before riding motorbikes.

This, he claimed, was due to the Okada riders being blamed for the majority of criminal activity in the state.

Adeleye stated that the government agency will strictly enforce the restriction.

“No movement of Okada again, in that way, anybody seen with Okada at night will be assumed as a criminal and will be handled as such,” he said.
