EDITOR’S PICKS:

The AMVCA is in its 9th edition and is organized by MultiChoice, a Nigerian pay-TV company. The last edition was held at the Eko Hotels, Lagos State, and was hosted by IK Osakioduwa and South Africa’s Bonang Matheba.

Most African filmmakers have already submitted their movies and films that were publicly exhibited or broadcast between December 1st, 2021, and January 31st, 2023, for the 2023 edition of the AMVCA. In January 2023, the organizers of the award announced that the entry portal opens on February 20th and closes on March 10th.

“To enter the awards, all filmmakers must prepare a 5-minute-long showreel, the video must be less than 300MB and submitted on the Africa Magic website, the website will allocate a unique reference number to each completed online submission,” Dr Tejumola was quoted as saying. “All films (aired in cinemas or otherwise), made-for-television movies, or television series are eligible so long as they fall within the specified timeline.”
