The Anglican Bishop of Akure, Canon Olowolagba, along with his wife and children, has been released after being kidnapped on Saturday.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the family who were abducted on Iboropa Road while traveling from Ipesi, in Ondo State, southwest Nigeria have regained their freedom.
The Ondo State Security Network, commonly known as Amotekun, confirmed the family’s release on Sunday.

According to the State Commander of Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adelaye, the victims were safely retrieved and immediately taken to the hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
Adelaye stated that they had successfully secured the release of the family, and they are now in the hospital recieveing neccessay medical attention.
He emphasised efforts made to maintain safety and security in Ondo State and promised to continue collaborations with other security agencies.
Details regarding the circumstances of their release, including whether a ransom was paid, remain undisclosed.
The family’s abduction had raised significant concerns about the safety of residents and travelers in the region. This incident underscores ongoing security challenges in the area, prompting local authorities to reiterate their commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
While expressing relief at the family’s safe return, citizens continue to call for enhanced measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future. Amotekun Corps and other security operatives have pledged to intensify patrols and intelligence efforts across the state to deter criminal activities.
