President Joe Biden has ordered that US flags be lowered to half-staff for a period of 30 days in honor of former President Jimmy Carter, who passed away at the age of 100. However this decision has not gone down well with President- Elect Donald Trump.

Eko Hot Blog gathered that the order applies to all federal buildings and grounds, and is a customary gesture of respect for a deceased president.

EDITOR’S PICK

President-elect Trump has been quite vocal about the situation on his Truth Social platform.

In one post, he expressed his frustration about the timing of President Carter’s funeral, saying that it will create a “jarring image” on Inauguration Day.

He also criticized the decision to lower the flags for 30 days, calling it “disrespectful” to the office of the presidency.

“Nobody wants to see this, and no American can be happy about it,” Trump wrote.

He delivered an unsubstantiated accusation that Democrats “are all ‘giddy’ about our magnificent American Flag potentially being at ‘half mast’ during my Inauguration.”

“They don’t love our Country, they only think about themselves,” Trump wrote, again without naming his targets.

Trump appeared to hint at the possibility of flags being ordered back up for his big day, saying the half-mast “may” happen and ending with, “let’s see how it plays out.”

But the White House put an end to any speculation.

Asked whether Biden’s flags order could be reversed or reconsidered, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said: “No.”
