Eko Hot Blog reports that the Chairman of Epe Local Government (LG), Hon. Surah Animashaun, has sought more support from her constituents after she performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Epe Multipurpose Hall in Epe LG Secretariat, Epe, Lagos State.
She broke ground for the multipurpose hall, which will house a vocational training centre, on Thursday after convening a stakeholders meeting where she informed attendees of her administration’s progress two years after assuming office.
In an interview with Eko Hot Blog following the stakeholders’ meeting and groundbreaking ceremony, she said she convened the meeting to respond to criticisms and update stakeholders on the activities of the council under her leadership.
According to Animashaun, the meeting also witnessed her discuss her administration’s plans for the next two years for the progress of the community.
“The purpose of this meeting is to give an account of my stewardship, and it won’t be nice if I didn’t respond to all the criticisms,” she said.
“This is to let them know about what I have been doing and what I am about to do in the next two years and what I have done for the past two years, so those are the things I made them realize, and I would like to hear from them what they really want, things we are lacking and not doing well so I can see to it.”
On the proposed multipurpose hall, the Epe LG chairman said the project is another evidence of her administration’s efforts to ensure further development in the community.
She, therefore, called on the people of Epe to show her more support so as to contribute their own quota to the development of Epe LG.
“Also, this groundbreaking is the more reason why we are here today, to let them know things we are doing for the betterment of the community and also for the people of Epe,” Animashaun said.
“Satisfied or not, we have to do the needful, what the people want from us; it’s not about us being satisfied or not; it’s all about us doing the needful and listening to them.
“My message to the people of Epe is that I need more of their support. I need more of their prayers, more support, and they should at least in their own way also contribute to this development.”
