The World Health Organisation country office in Afghanistan via its X handle announced on Wednesday that an earthquake has occurred in Herat.
The number one health organisation added that medical experts were on the ground to help the casualties get medical assistance.
“#Afghanistan woke up to another 6.3 magnitude earthquake today, shaking parts of the western region previously affected by the #HeratEarthquake. Teams are on the ground ensuring the injured get the medical help they need and saving lives,” the post read.
Reacting to the natural disaster, the WHO Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, consoled families of the victims of the disaster, assured the organisation would continue to support the people of the country with medical care.
“My heart goes out to the people in #Afghanistan who have lost loved ones and have been affected by the multiple earthquakes in Herat.

“@WHOAfghanistan continues to support the Afghan people with essential health care,” he assured.
Meanwhile, a 6.3 magnitude quake had occurred during the weekend destroying at least 13 villages in Herat province’s Zindah Jan district.
