Another Nigerian Emerges World Heavyweight Boxing Title Contender

A Nigerian boxer, Raphael Akpejiori, based in Miami, Florida in US emerged a strong contender for the World Heavyweight title belts held by Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury last Saturday.

Standing at 6ft 8in, Raphael pummeled his opponent Joshua Tuani to submission by technical knockout in the first round of the encounter.

As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG , This brings his record to 9wins, 9KOs. The fight venue was the Miramar Regional Park Amphitheatre located at Miramar, Florida, United States of America.

It was a moment of joy to see Nigeria’s flag being waved by Raphael at the end of the fight.

Raphael was born in Surulere, Lagos on October 10,1990. In 2008, he moved to to the US on a basketball scholarship and later switched to boxing.

He holds a bachelor and masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering.

Recall that a Nigerian born British boxer, Anthony Joshua holds three World Heavyweight title belts while Tyson Fury, a British boxer has one. A possibility for a unification bout between the two boxers is on the way in 2021.

A street was named after Anthony Joshua in Shagamu, Ogun State by the State government.
