The British heavyweight is riding a three-fight winning streak and is determined to make a statement against the former UFC champion.
“I believe I can knock him out,” Joshua said exclusively to Sky Sports. “Definitely. I would love to knock him out and make a statement.”
Fresh off a dominant five-round victory over Otto Wallin in December, Joshua is feeling physically and mentally prepared for the unique challenge posed by Ngannou, who pushed Tyson Fury close in his professional boxing debut last October.
“Physically I feel strong, feeling good. Strong enough to get the job done and mentally I’m in a place where I’m ready for war. I’m looking forward to the challenge,” Joshua stated.
Rather than fixating on his opponent’s strengths, Joshua is focused on maximizing his own potential and showcasing the improvements he has made in training. “Mentally I don’t worry so much about my opponent and look at what my opponent can bring to me and think, ‘how can I overcome these challenges they present?’ I work really hard to up my game and look forward to showing everything I’ve worked on.”
