Anxiety As Gunmen Raze Another Police Station In Imo

  • The residents of Imo State have been thrown into anxiety following the incessant burning of police stations in the state.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the residents of Imo State have continued to live in palpable tension over the incessant razing of police stations by unknown gunmen in the state.

This was just as the gunmen, on Tuesday, razed the Omuma Divisional Police Headquarters in the Oru East Local Government Area of the state.

The razing of the police station came after the fleeing gunmen razed the Isu Divisional Police Headquarters in Amandugba on Monday.

As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG, the attack by the gunmen was confirmed by the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, noting that the assailants were repelled.

It was, however, learnt that the attackers succeeded in torching the police station after injuring some policemen on duty.

A source disclosed that the gunmen succeeded in throwing explosives in the police premises after a gun battle with the officers.

EKO HOT BLOG understands that the burning of the Police Division was the fifth in one week in Imo State after Orji, Atta, Izombe and Isu Divisional Police Headquarters were razed by the assailants within the time frame.

The police spokesperson, who confirmed the latest development via a statement, said, “Similar attempt was made by some hoodlums to attack Omuma Police Division but was equally repelled by the gallant policemen on duty.

“No life was lost in the two attacks and there were no casually on the part of the Police. The two Police Stations were not burnt.

“There is, however, no security breach or infraction recorded throughout the day in the entire State.

“This could be attributed to the massive deployment of security personnel across the state by the Police and other supporting security agencies, who provided watertight security to the peace-loving people of Imo State.

“The Commissioner of Police Imo State, CP Abutu Yaro, fdc commended the efforts of the men for repelling the attacks on the two Police Stations and keeping the state safe.

“Meanwhile, patrols and surveillance activities are ongoing. Members of the Public are enjoined to go about their lawful duties without fear,“ Elkana noted.
