Apapa Gridlock: MWUN Threatens Nationwide Strike
The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, MWUN, has threatened to order its members to embarked on a nationalwide strike if the the Apapa gridlock was not resolved.
The union lamented the slow pace of the ongoing reconstruction work on the busy Apapa-Oshidi Expressway that leads to the Tin Can Island and Apapa Ports in Lagos.
MWUN also stressed that it would declared industrial action against maritime companies that have failed to provide holding bays for their empty containers despite interventions by the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA.
The President General of MWUN, Adewale Adeyanju, disclosed this to newsmen in Lagos.

He lameneted the loss of lives and property as a result of the dilapidated state of the road. Adding that, it appeared that the contractors were unconcerned about the loss of valuable lives on the road as well as untold hardship its slow pace of works have caused Nigerians.
He called in the Federal Government to hasten the pace reconstruction of the road.
