The All Progressives Congress (APC) has waived its rule of having new members wait for two years before they can contest elections on its platform for all new members of and others planning to join its fold from various political platforms.

This was part of the resolutions adopted on Tuesday at a virtual emergency National Executive Council meeting of the APC presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Abuja.

Present at the NEC meeting was Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, who is attending the meeting for the first time since he defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in November.

According to the party’s NEC, the decision to grant a waiver to new members is to encourage young people to join the APC.

Eko Hot Blog reported that the APC NEC resolved to extend the tenure of the Caretaker/ Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the party for another six months till June 2021.

It also approved the expulsion of its immediate past National Vice Chairman (South-South), Hilliard Etta for refusing to heed the party’s directive that all court cases must be withdrawn.
