As politicians continue to outplay one another ahead of the 2023 general elections, a founding member of All Progressive Congress (APC), Buba Galadima, has said the leadership crisis presently rocking the party is as a result of the politics of 2023 presidency.

Galadima who disclosed this while speaking Daily Sun stressed that the power play in the ruling party has huge connection with the ambition of some party chieftains who want to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari at the expiration of his tenure.

According to him, APC national leader Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not the only one eyeing the power seat in 2023 as he may find himself in the race with ranking party members including Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state.

Galadima also listed minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and immediate past National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomole as some of the bigwigs who may throw the hat into the ring against the ambition of the former Lagos State governor.

Buba Galadima stresses that the leadership crisis in the ruling party is another game being played by the inner caucus of the party against the forth-coming general election.

The Yobe born politician stated that is unlikely for more factions to emerge within the party in a desperate bid to take total control of the party machinery ahead of the next presidential election.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson to Senate President, Ahmad Lawan has come out to disregard the news that his boss is nursing a presidential ambition. Ola Awoni stressed that the report should be disregarded as it is a sheer rumour meant to distract the Senate President from performing his constitutional duties.

He explained that though Lawan was involved in the consultations that President Muhammadu Buhari held prior to the last emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee of the APC, the meeting in any way had nothing to do with his presidential ambition and urge all Nigerians to disregard the unfounded rumour.
