Eko hot blog reports that the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a bold challenge to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, urging him to resign from office if he cannot demonstrate competence in governance.
The call comes amidst allegations of lack of visible development projects in the state over the past 10 months.
During a media briefing at the party’s secretariat in Port Harcourt, Mr. Tony Okocha, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Rivers APC, criticized Governor Fubara for his alleged failure to initiate tangible development initiatives since assuming office.
Okocha emphasized that the governor’s purported sacrifices for peace and stability in the state were insufficient to justify his continued tenure.
According to him, Fubara’s administration has yet to translate its theories and policies into concrete actions that would benefit the people of Rivers State. He further accused the governor of orchestrating false support from his followers, despite the absence of tangible achievements.
In response to questions from journalists, Okocha reiterated the party’s stance, asserting that the call for resignation was based on Fubara’s perceived incompetence rather than as a precondition for peace.
He emphasized that the state was not at war, implying that the governor’s claims were unfounded.
The APC’s demand for Governor Fubara’s resignation underscores the growing discontent with his leadership and highlights the urgent need for effective governance in Rivers State.
