The party’s spokesperson, Felix Morka, emphasized the need for constructive engagement and the presentation of viable alternatives to contribute to the country’s development.
During an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Morka stated, “One of the concerns we have is that opposition is not about condemning. So, it is not enough to just condemn. These leaders should be able to – assuming they have that silver bullet that they say the government is not deploying – point it out.”
He pointed out that both the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) had campaigned on promises to undertake reforms similar to those being implemented by the current administration led by President Bola Tinubu.
While acknowledging the challenges faced by Nigerians, Morka urged patience, highlighting that the Tinubu-led government is still in its early stages.
He emphasized the bold steps taken by the administration to address fundamental problems and reassured that the difficulties are temporary on the path to achieving national progress.
The APC spokesperson’s comments come amid criticism from various quarters regarding the economic situation in Nigeria. Recently, the House of Representatives summoned key figures, including the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Yemi Cardoso, the Minister of Budget and National Planning Atiku Bagudu, and the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun, to discuss the rising cost of living and the overall economic condition in the country.
During the meeting, Minister Wale Edun expressed confidence in the country’s economic recovery, stating, “Where we are as a nation economically is a much better place than we were on the 29th of May, 2023.”
