APC Chieftain, Bisi Akande, Blasts Buhari Over Party’s Registration Exercise
Founding National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande, has decried the ongoing membership registration activity of the party.
Speaking on Thursday after revalidation of his membership of the party at his ward in Ila-Orangun, Osun State, he described the registration exercise as an aberration which could create unpleasant notion about the party.
He called out the Buhari-led administration, deeming its use of state resources wasteful and unappreciative in light of the state of the economy.
He noted that the Mai Mala Buni-led National Caretaker Committee decision to hold another registration “put into abeyance the applause of the two national election successes that the original APC register enjoyed since its completion on 15th February 2014 and the over one billion Naira of 2014’s value that the original register cost when APC had no money of its own,”
He added that “Within this context, I see the present APC membership registration within less than a decade after the original register as an indefensible aberration leading to certain ugly perceptions.”
The former governor of Osun who was accompanied by delegation of the party led by Senator Lawan, also called the Caretaker Executive Committee of the party an abnormality.
Akande urged the present Caretaker Executive Committee to resist temptations of “sit-tight syndromes” which he said, is seen in most underdeveloped countries of the world, where its leadership is handpicked.
