The All Progressive Congress APC, Edo Chapter has suppended its secretary, Lawrence Okah, pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation on complaints levied against him.
The suspension was contained in a letter signed by the party’s chairman in the state, Mr Anselm Ojezua, which was made available to newsmen on Friday.
Ojezua noted that secretary of the party was suspended following the complaints levied against him by members of the party. Adding that, the suspension would allowed the party carryout it investigation of the allegations.
He said “He was just suspended to allow the committee set up to look at the complaints against him.”
The Chairman however, stressed that the secretary has not been expelled from the party.
He said “We have not expelled him and the suspension is not punitive. It is just a normal administrative procedure.”
The suspended secretary confirmed the suspension, he however, noted that the state chairman of the party had no jurisdiction to sack him going by the constitution of the party.
It was gathered that leaders and members of the APC in Ward 7 Oredo, have been locked in a fierce supremacy battle over the control of the party structure.
