EKO HOT BLOG reports that a faction of the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the state, Siminalayi Fubara.
This online media platform gathered that the Leader of the faction, Tony Okocha, who is a member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (APC PCC) in the state, has said the faction would support Fubara instead of the APC governorship candidate in the state, Tonye Cole.
Okocha told Channels Television that the faction’s support of Fubara was like paying back to the PDP for its support during the presidential election.
It was earlier reported that the APC PCC attributed the victory of its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, in Rivers State to Governor Nyesom Wike.
A member of the APC PCC and the leader of the Independent Campaign Council (ICC) in the state, Tony Okocha, made this known during a press briefing in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Okocha said without Wike‘s efforts and support, the former Governor of Lagos State would not have secured up to the 25% vote which is the constitutional requirement expected from the state.
He said: “Saying Wike was key to the victory of our Candidate Tinubu is an understatement. The governor was instrumental to our victory 1million times.
“He told Rivers people to vote for someone that will support the state. He mobilized human beings and resources to ensure this victory. We commend him.”
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), declared Tinubu as the winner of the presidential poll conducted on Saturday, February 25, 2023, last Wednesday.
The APC chieftain maintained that it was time to reciprocate the kind gesture from the PDP by supporting its candidate in the state to emerge victorious at the governorship polls.
