Eko Hot Blog reports that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is leaving no stone unturned in its preparations for the upcoming Ondo State governorship election, as the party’s National Working Committee has constituted a nine-member committee to oversee the primary election for its aspirants.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, it was revealed that “By a resolution adopted at its 144th meeting held on March 6, 2024, the National Working Committee of our great party constituted a governorship primary election committee of its members for the smooth running of election processes in Ondo State.”
The statement further outlined the composition of the committee, which comprises solely members of the APC National Working Committee. “They include Emma Eneukwu (Chairman), Festus Fuanter, Victor Giadom, Prof. Abdulkarim Kana, Sulaiman M. Argungu, Dr. Mary Alile Idele, Aare Durotolu Bankole, Nze Chidi Duru and Morka,” the statement read.
This development comes on the heels of a significant endorsement from within the party’s ranks in Ondo State, as 15 members of the State House of Assembly, including the Speaker, Olamide Oladiji, threw their support behind the incumbent governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to clinch the party’s ticket and emerge victorious in the November 2024 governorship election.
As the APC gears up for the crucial primary election, the nine-member committee will play a pivotal role in ensuring a smooth and transparent process, laying the foundation for the party’s eventual candidate to contest the highly anticipated governorship election later this year.
