-
The Peoples Democratic Party has come out with a warning ahead of the Taraba State governorship election.
-
According to the political party, it’s rival, the All Progressives Congress has no candidate in the governorship election.
-
To that effect, it is advising the INEC electoral body to exclude the party from the ballot papers, cautioning that any vote cast for the APC becomes wasted vote.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that as Taraba State prepares for its governorship election on Saturday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against accepting any candidate from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The PDP made the statement on Wednesday, citing a Supreme Court judgment that ruled that any political party that fails to comply with the provisions of the electoral act over the selection of a candidate shall not be included in the election.

According to the PDP, the APC has no valid candidate for the election in Taraba State as a result of the Supreme Court’s ruling in suit No SC/CV/1564/2022 on February 1, 2023.
The party said in a statement by its spokesman, Debo Ologunagba, that the APC cannot validly field a candidate in the upcoming election as it failed to comply with the mandatory provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022, regarding the conduct of its governorship primary in Taraba State.
Ologunagba warned the people of Taraba State that any vote cast or credited to the APC in the March 18, 2023 governorship election would be considered a wasted vote. He also called on INEC and the general public to take note of the Supreme Court’s judgment, stating that the APC cannot field a valid candidate in the election.
The PDP’s cautionary statement comes just days before the governorship election in Taraba State, where voters are expected to choose their next governor.
