Lagos APC Holds Strategic Quarterly Meeting In Ikorodu (Details)
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by the Local Government Area (LGA) Party Chairmen, held a crucial quarterly meeting.
The meeting aimed at strengthening strategies for the upcoming elections across the state.
This second edition of the high-profile gathering took place on Wednesday, 17th July 2024.
The venue was the Ikorodu APC Secretariat on Oke-Ota Ona, Ikorodu, Lagos.
The conference saw attendance from prominent figures including Mayegun Dally-Adeokun and Alhaji Muniru K. Okoroowo.
Other attendees included Muftau Mohammed, Gafar Meyon, Chief Rasheed Shobaloju, Alhaji Tunde Azeez, Adeyemi Odekomaya, and Taiwo Orenuga.
Additionally, Otunba Bayo Lawson, Alhaja Morufat Memud, Taiwo Adeleye, Akibu Saliu, Aduni Opeyemi Akindele, Akin Mejolagbe, and Ayo Ogungbiye were present.
Otunba Olasunkanmi Tijani Jimoh, representing the six LGA APC party chairmen in Ikorodu, extended a warm welcome to the leaders.
He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the chair of chairs for his exemplary coordination and presence despite health challenges. He wished him a speedy recovery.
Also, Otunba Olasunkanmi, who serves as Ikorodu North LGA Party Chairman and the Ikorodu division’s party Chair of Chairs, highlighted the importance of these meetings.
He emphasized the facilitation of idea exchange and addressing challenges affecting their LGAs and the state.
He acknowledged the support from notable political figures.
Supporters included Lagos East’s Senator Mukhail Abiru, Rep. Babajimi Benson MHR, Abisola Olusanya, Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture, and Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje.
He specifically praised Ikorodu’s Lagos State House of Assembly members, Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye and Hon. Moshood Abiodun Aro.
Council chairmen praised included Hon. Wasiu Adesina of Ikorodu Local Government, Bldr. Adebisi Banjo of Ikorodu North LCDA, and Mr. Kazeem Sulaimon Olarewaju of Ikorodu West LCDA.
Also commended were Prince Wasiu Agoro of Imota LCDA, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba of Ijede LCDA, and Bldr. Sesan Daini of Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA.
The meeting underscored the responsiveness and dedication of Ikorodu division’s officeholders.
Olasunkanmi noted their efforts in ensuring the meeting’s success and addressing the provision of official vehicles for LGA chairmen.
Leaders delved into various state-level topics as the meeting progressed.
They discussed individual and collective challenges, welfare matters, and innovative ideas to strengthen the ruling party.
A key focus was unity and actively engaging the youth constituency, recognized as the party’s future.
Therefore, Hon. Mayegun Dally-Adeokun, APC Chairman of all LGA Party Chairmen in Lagos State, expressed confidence in Ikorodu LGA.
He described it as “Ikorodu Oga, leading the way in planning, execution, and delivery.”
“I am proud of you, Ikorodu LGA; thank you for the hospitality,” he added.
Hon. Mayegun lauded public officeholders’ contributions to the program and their support at both local and state levels.
He also stressed the importance of unity among LGA Chairmen and called for collective efforts to strengthen the party’s position.
In a post-meeting interview, Hon. Mayegun emphasized the meeting as a platform to brainstorm new directions.
He urged early preparations to avoid past electoral shortcomings and to ensure APC’s grassroots dominance.
Alhaja Aminat Akerele, former Chair of Chairs Conference 57 APC, mentioned the meeting’s significance.
She noted the gathering brings leaders together to identify and address issues in each local government.
The body strives to close the gaps between leaders and local governments they serve.
“The efforts of the party chairmen, officeholders, and all members are set to propel APC to new heights in Lagos State politics,” Alhaja Aminat said.
Otunba Olasunkanmi, in an interview, acknowledged progress and signs indicating Ikorodu’s path to greater success. He recognized the other 56 LGAs in Lagos State.
Olasunkanmi thanked the leadership for their active participation, indicating the fruitful deliberations.
“The meeting demonstrated APC’s commitment to maintaining its stronghold in Lagos State through strategic planning, unity, and stakeholder involvement.”
“As APC maps out its strategy for future elections, today’s Ikorodu meeting reflects the party’s dedication to grassroots engagement and strategic foresight,” Otunba Olasunkanmi asserted.
