APC Lagos State Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi was attacked by aggrieved party members from Alimosho Local Government over leadership disputes, but was rescued by police
Eko Hot Blog reports that a report has indicated that the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Lagos State is currently engulfed in a crisis over leadership issues in Local Government Areas (LGAs).
According to The Sun, party chairman Cornelius Ojelabi was attacked at the party’s secretariat in Acme, Ogba, Ikeja, by aggrieved members from Alimosho Local Government.
These members stormed the secretariat to express their displeasure with Ojelabi’s management of the ongoing crisis in their local government.
The protesters accused Ojelabi of bias and nearly assaulted him before police intervened and rescued the chairman. In a viral video, the angry members were seen removing Ojelabi’s cap and attempting to beat him, but the timely intervention of police officers prevented further violence.
The confrontation reportedly escalated when Ojelabi rejected the protesters’ requests for solutions to the leadership crisis in the Alimosho party chapter.
The chairman had refused to accept their request and insisted that the current public officeholders must be on seat during a meeting that will deliberate on their wish and recommendation for APC in Alimosho.
