EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to a statement by APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the decision to relocate the meeting was due to “logistical reasons.”
“The All Progressives Congress APC announces that the meeting of the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) scheduled to be held on Thursday, 24th July, 2025, will now take place at the Presidential Villa, Abuja,” Morka stated.
A key agenda for the meeting is the selection of a substantive National Chairman following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje on June 27. Ganduje had stepped down citing health concerns, though sources within the party suggest political pressures and internal realignments ahead of the 2027 elections played a significant role in his exit.
Top contenders for the chairmanship position include former Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko Al-Makura, and the current Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Nentawe Yilwatda. Since Ganduje’s departure, Ali Bukar Dalori, the Deputy National Chairman (North), has been serving in an acting capacity.
Party insiders reveal that Thursday’s meeting will also address updates from the Constitution Review Committee and the timeline for upcoming party congresses across the country.

Although many leaders are pushing for Dalori to continue in acting capacity until a formal elective convention, the final decision is believed to hinge on President Bola Tinubu’s endorsement, with stakeholders, including the Progressives Governors’ Forum, awaiting his signal.
