BREAKING: INEC Declares APC’s Okpebholo Winner Of Edo Governorship Election
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monday Okpebholo, has emerged victorious in the September 21, 2024, Edo State governorship election.
The off-cycle election saw 17 candidates vying for the coveted seat at the Dennis Osadebay House in Benin City.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the election was conducted in 4,519 polling units across all 18 local government areas of Edo State.
This online media platform reports that Okpebholo received significant backing from former governor and current Edo North Senator, Adams Oshiomhole.
The electoral contest was keenly fought between Okpebholo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Asue Ighodalo, and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP).
Okpebholo secured victories in several key areas, including Esan West, Owan West, Egor, Akoko-Edo, Esan Central, Orhionmwon, Etsako East, Etsako Central, Etsako West, and Oredo.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Tony Aziegbemi, called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, to conduct an immediate re-collation and recompilation of the actual results from the Edo governorship election.
Aziegbemi’s appeal emphasized the need for a comprehensive review of the collated results before any final announcement is made, to ensure transparency and accuracy in the electoral process.
